Perfect Teeth: Perfect Smile - Get a better smile for less

Dental Procedures, Bridges, Implants, Veneers, Root CanalsThere are more solutions than ever to get your smile whiter, straighter, and overall, prettier. Whether you'd like your smile to look nicer or your dentist suggests surgery, the dental procedure is likely to be costly. Unless, of course, you don't mind venturing a little further for the same procedure at a much lower cost.

Root Canals

If you have a tooth whose internal structures are inflamed or infected, then this infection can spread from your tooth to the Jaw bone. Endodontics or root canals can restore your tooth to the healthiest state by removing damaged tissue from inside of your tooth's root.

Veneers

Veneers are used to correct crowding or mal-alignment of teeth or to hide a badly discolored tooth that cannot be corrected by whitening methods alone. They can also be used to close any gaps between teeth. Veneers can provide a quick and permanent cosmetic restoration of stained, discolored front teeth that are otherwise in good condition.

Fillings

Fillings are used when a tooth is starting to decay. A dentist will remove all of the decayed part of the tooth and fill the tooth with one of three types of filling materials:

  • Silver Amalgam
  • Ceramics
  • Composite Resin

Crowns

Crowns are used when teeth have been badly damaged by decay or wear and cosmetic fillings are no longer an option. In these cases, a crown or a cap must be used to save the tooth. Crowns can also be used on either side of a gap, so that a bridge can be constructed to replace one or multiple missing teeth without having to use a dental implant.
There are several types of crowns:

  • Full Metal
  • Metal with Porcelain Joints
  • Porcelain
  • Cast Glass

Each has its advantages and disadvantages. The dentist will recommend which one will be the best suited for each situation.

Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges quite literally bridge the gap created by one or more missing teeth. A bridge is made up of two crowns for the teeth on either side of the gap. Dental bridges are usually supported by natural teeth or implants. Bridges help to restore your smile, your ability to chew and speak properly, maintain the shape of your face and prevent missing teeth from getting out of position.

There are three main types of bridges:

  • Traditional Bridges
  • Cantilever Bridges
  • Resin Bonded Bridge

Cosmetic Dental Surgery

You know how important a first impression is and your impression (hopefully) starts out with a smile. But what if your smile doesn't impress? There are treatments made to enhance your set of pearly (or not so pearly) whites, including:

  • crown lengthening
  • soft tissue grafts
  • ridge augmentation.

Crown lengthening enhances your smile when a periodontist adjusts the gum line to reveal more of your natural teeth. If your teeth appear to be too short, this may be the surgery you are looking for. Crown lengthening can enhance the natural beauty of your teeth, by showing more of them.

If your problem is just the opposite, a periodontist can help, as well. If your roots are beginning to show, you may want to have a soft tissue graft procedure done. A soft tissue graft is when gum tissue is taken from another spot in your mouth and is placed over the root to cover it. This procedure will protect the root as well as giving your teeth a nice appearance.

Another procedure that can help your smile's appearance is called ridge augmentation. If you've noticed an indentation in your gums where you have lost a tooth or teeth, it could be that your jawbone has receded without the tooth's structure to keep it in place. A periodontist can fill in this gap to make your gums look natural and beautiful.

Periodontal Surgery

Periodontal disease is a disease in which your gums have receded, allowing bacteria to grow between your teeth and gums. If a periodontist has diagnosed you with periodontal disease, you'll probably want to try non-surgical methods to control the situation. If the condition does not get better, however, you'll need to look into surgical remedies. There are four common procedures that are often used for periodontal disease:

  • Crown lengthening
  • pocket depth reduction
  • regenerative procedures
  • soft tissue grafts.
