Ayurveda (eye-yer-vay-duh)

Ayurveda, which means "The Science of Life," is a 5,000 year old, tried and tested method of treating diseases or illnesses using all natural plants and herbs. Ayurvedic principles may come from ancient texts, but these principles are just as applicable in our society today as they were when they were originally recorded in India.

Ayurvedic concepts are based on the premise that a human being is a combination of the Body-Mind-Soul and achieving balance at all of these levels is very important.

The Ayurvedic approach to life involves listening to and addressing the unique needs of your body, recognizing and balancing your mental and emotional states and deepening your connection with your spirit. Ayurveda Links of Interest:

Yoga, Meditation, Balance

The word Yoga means "to bind, join, attach and yoke, to direct and concentrate one's attention on, to use and apply." It also means union or communion.

Yoga is the true union of our will with the will of God. 'It thus means,' says Mahadev Desai in his introduction to the Gita according to Gandhi, 'the yoking of all the powers of body, mind and soul to God; it means the disciplining of the intellect, the mind, the emotions, the will, which that Yoga presupposes; it means a poise of the soul which enables one to look at life in all its aspects evenly.'

One who follows the path of Yoga is a yogi or yogin. Yoga has also been described as wisdom in work or skilful living amongst activities, harmony and moderation.
